amazonas: into the jungle (2015)
We (Eddy and Hans Dunlop ) organized a tour into the Amazonian jungle in the Colombian department Leticia. We walked more or less along the border with Peru, from the community Buenos Aires at the Río Cotuhe into the direction of San Martin de Amacayacu near the river Amazon. (outside the Amacayacu National Park) The ultimate part, getting back in the civilized world by river, we used a lancha owned by the community San Martin. Our food was too early finished because we had hired additional porters from the family Grillo in the jungle who had to eat too. We were not strong enough to carry our own luggage 10-18km a day. This tour was a once in a lifetime experience. I lost 4kg in this week but would not have missed it. This experience is not for the soft-hearted but I was 68Y old at that moment.
